Now that the judging round is over, time for some fun with the Popular Vote!  This is a chance to pitch your submissions, rate other Thirsty Photographers’ photos, comment on your Favs, and see what feedback you get on your own photos.

The popular vote window is open from September 1st to September 8th, just after Labor Day.  The highest rated photo will win a copy of Adobe Lightroom. 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place will move to the showcase album with the judges selection.

Campaign for the best Photo

In order to qualify for placement in the top three, the submission must have a minimum of 10 votes.  The best way to get votes is to vote for other submissions, and pitch your favorite photo on Facebook.  byline_share For each photo, the “by-line” has a Share button.  This will allow you to post a link of your own photo  (or your favorite photo ) to your news feed.  Let friends know your in the contest and get them to participate – after all, its a popular vote so campaign for your favorite photo!

Share your Feedback

Commenting on photos is a great way to share your opinion and give the photographer potentially valuable feedback on their work.  Please be sure to comment on submissions you like, and add some constructive criticism to share.  We are all thirsty to learn more!

Support our Judges

Don’t forget to visit our judges’ websites. Giving them traffic helps us attract professional photographers  and hopefully some valuable professional feedback on our work.

Judging Round Complete

Our second contest is coming  to a close and the winners have been selected for the judges round! Later this week, I will open up the contest to popular vote, where all of us can vote, promote your submission, and have another chance to win a copy of Adobe Lightroom.

Congratulations to 1st Place Shane Liem , 2nd Place Eric Thalman , and 3rd Place Matthew Asner. Shane will receive a copy of Adobe Lightroom for the first place prize from the judges panel.  There were twice as many photos submitted compared to our first contest for a total of 330 great shots!  This meant there were tons of great photos to review, and a tough choice to choose the top 3.

This was the first time ThirstyPhoto had a panel of judges.  I learned a few things along the way and got some good feedback on how to improve this part of a photo contest.  So stay tuned for more judging in future contests, and a bit more rules on how judging will be performed.  Overall, I think a panel of judges complements the popular vote, so its good to see the latest Poll reflecting this opinion from you all.

We have had a lot of great press this Contest, and I look forward to offering some new prizes in our next Contest.  So stayed tuned! And don’t forget to participate in the popular vote later this week!

Popular Vote to Open Soon!

A number of people have asked how they can vote this contest.  Well, the contest winners this time around was to be decided only by judges’ panel, since the last contest was decided by popular vote. But based on current feedback of the latest poll, and recent inquiries – I will also open the contest up to popular vote!  I have two copies of Adobe Lightroom, so the first place photos chosen from judges vote, and popular vote will be awarded a free copy of Adobe Lightroom.

So stayed tuned for more news. Once the judges have made their votes, I will open the contest up to everyone to participate in the popular vote!

If you havent responded to our poll here it is:

How should the best photos be chosen in future Contests?

  • Both Judges and Members (66%, 25 Votes)
  • by a Panel of Judges only (21%, 8 Votes)
  • by a Popular Vote from Members (8%, 3 Votes)
  • Either one (5%, 2 Votes)

Total Voters: 38

adobe_lightroomOur first contest had some great submissions and participation. With the feedback from the last contest, I am continuing to do more development on integration with social APIs and sites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace.  You wont see much of this work for now – so I figured it was time to have another contest in the time being.

This second contest on the site continues with a new Theme , SIGNS.

This is a Category Assignment with a Judges Panel, the judges will be showcased later during the contest. I kept the Category for this Contest pretty broad again since there were so many great interpretations on the last one -  so the theme this time will be Signs.
