Just entered my 1st contest ever and I am open to suggestions to improve where I may. I am still figuring out your site and hopefully succeeded doing things correctly. Thank you.
added a message for all new users who have never voted. the photo page now will say something like
” Hello Nick!
This seems to be the first time you have ever voted in one of our contests. Simply click one of the stars below. 1 for lowest, 5 for highest – and we will record your vote. To read more on how voting works read Voting Rules. … See More
”
above the 5 star rating. As long as they have voted at least once, this message will not appear again.
I only see 5 likes on the website page, and 3 on the Facebook app page for this photo. Sometimes I have seen when using facebook plugins the numbers being inaccurate. For example, one comment box reported over 1,000,000 counted, when only 5 displayed. So likely you saw the same thing.

The submissions are getting better and better every contest.

Popular Vote
The Popular Vote is now open. In past contests this has been open from the beginning of the contest. For this contest the popular voting window was deliberately delayed. Congratulations to 1st place Samar Mandal, 2nd place Johanne Brunet, and 3rd place Christian Öser! Also listed are honorable mentions, picked from the top rated photos from the judges. This contest had tons of great photos – stay tuned for the new contest announcements in the next couple of days. Thanks everyone for your participation.
I have been reviewing the voting methods and currently designing a new method. The purpose of re-designing the voting feature is to improve exposure of all photos to members and increase participation from “one-time” voters.
What is the most important change to voting for you
show my photo's ranking relative to the whole contest (41%, 14 Votes)
make the popular vote less 'popular' and more about the quality of the photo (38%, 13 Votes)
more constructive comments from members (21%, 7 Votes)
The last contest theme poll had a close finish between “Windows” and “Flowers”. So lets just have them both! To start we will kick of “Windows” first and follow it soon after with “Flowers”.
We still have the B&W contest to wind down later this week. Expect these new contests to launch early next month.
